Knowledge Base & FAQ

Everything you need to know about mastering cinematic nature photography with LeafyCam.

Core Features

What makes LeafyCam different from my phone's default camera?

Most default camera apps prioritize bright, highly saturated photos suitable for social media selfies. LeafyCam is The Android Camera App Built for Cinematic Nature Photography. It avoids over-sharpening and artificial HDR, instead providing real-time cinematic LUTs, uncompressed RAW capture, and our Pro Landscape Optimizer 2.0 to preserve natural, moody forest and mountain tones.

Can I use LeafyCam without an internet connection?

Yes! LeafyCam is designed for outdoor and wilderness photography. All computational processing, including Real-Time LUT rendering and RAW capture, happens directly on your device. No internet connection is required.

What are Real-Time LUTs?

A LUT (Look-Up Table) is a professional color grading tool used in cinema. LeafyCam processes these 3D color cubes in real-time through your viewfinder, allowing you to see your final, color-graded image before you even press the shutter, saving you hours of editing.

What is Pro Landscape Optimizer 2.0?

It is our proprietary algorithmic engine built specifically for nature photography. It intelligently balances tricky outdoor exposures, prevents skies from blowing out, and manages complex greens in dense foliage without turning them neon or muddy.

Photography Controls

Does LeafyCam support shooting in RAW?

Yes, LeafyCam fully supports RAW DNG capture. Shooting in RAW bypasses JPEG compression, preserving maximum dynamic range and shadow detail—essential for professional post-processing of high-contrast landscapes in apps like Adobe Lightroom.

Can I manually control Shutter Speed and ISO?

Absolutely. LeafyCam provides full manual controls over ISO, Shutter Speed, White Balance, and Focus. This allows you to perfectly expose tricky lighting situations, like dense dark forests or bright snowy mountains, where auto-exposure often fails.

How do I take long exposure photos of waterfalls?

LeafyCam includes a built-in Long Exposure Simulation mode. By switching to this mode and using a tripod (or holding very still), the app stacks multiple frames to create silky smooth water effects without needing expensive physical ND filters.

How do I use Focus Peaking?

When you switch to Manual Focus, turn on Focus Peaking in the settings. The app will highlight the sharpest edges in your viewfinder in bright red or green, guaranteeing your subject (like a macro leaf or distant mountain peak) is perfectly in focus.

General Questions

Are my photos watermarked?

No. LeafyCam respects your photography. We never apply watermarks to your exported photos, whether you are using the free version or the premium tier.

What Android devices are supported?

LeafyCam requires Android 9.0 or higher. Features like RAW capture and manual shutter speed require your device manufacturer to support the Camera2 API. If your phone supports it, LeafyCam will automatically unlock its full potential.
